General Rules
Competitions are intended for high school students who are studying either French, German or Spanish.
NUMBER OF QUESTIONS PER COMPETITION
- Culture/Geography Preliminary Round: 50 questions
- Culture/Geography Final Round:15 questions (First team to answer 6; if tie = 1st team that scored wins.)
- Grammar Competition: 50 questions (4 levels in French & Spanish, 3 in German)
- Translation Competition: 30 questions (4 levels in French & Spanish, 3 in German)
- Leveled Reading Comprehension: 4 texts with 10 questions each, per level (4 levels in French & Spanish, 3 in)
- Open Reading Comprehension: 4 advanced text with 10 questions each
- Poetry Reading: 1 poem per level (2 for German) from 2 available choices (4 levels in French & Spanish, 3 in German)
- Vocabulary: 50 questions per level (4 levels in French & Spanish, 3 in German)
Trophy Placement
Top 3 participants per language, per event, per level (when applicable) will receive ribbons at awards with team points earned per language are as follows:
Culture/Geography: 2 points per team for the top two teams that go to the Finals Round.
Grammar: 1 point for 1st place
Translation: 1 point for 1st place
Reading Comprehension: 1 point for 1st place
Poetry Reading: 1 point for 1st place
Vocabulary: 1 point for 1st place
Original Poem *. . 1 point for 1st place
Short Story *. . . 1 point for 1st place
Essay * 1 point for 1st place
Film: 2 points for 1st team placement
Poster: 2 points for 1st team placement
Culture/Geography: 2 points per team for the top two teams that go to the Finals Round.
